The Program
Did you know: arthritis is the number one reason a person over the age of 65 visits their family physician?
The Arthritis is cured! (if you want it) is Canada’s National Arthritis Awareness Program (NAAP) co-led by Arthritis Consumer Experts (ACE) and the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada (ARC), Canada's largest and leading clinical arthritis research centre, has launched the Arthritis Broadcast Network (ABN).
A multimedia platform for the arthritis community, ABN shares news, information and stories about living well with arthritis. Featuring text, audio, video and photos, the network is built around four key NAAP themes:
- Living well with arthritis
- Saving lives and saving money by promoting arthritis prevention and treatment
- Arthritis and women
- Using arthritis tools to aid early diagnosis and self-management/self-care
ABN is your daily source for arthritis news and information.
Year three will see ABN correspondents at top-recognized health and consumer conferences. Make sure to visit ABN to see the latest coverage of NAAP at:
- Primary Care Conference – May 10-12, 2012 in Toronto
- Canadian Pharmacists Association Conference – June 1-4, 2012 in Whistler
- Zoomer Show – October 27-28, 2012 in Toronto
- Zoomer Show – November 17-18, 2012 in Vancouver
The launch of ABN follows two successful years for Arthritis is cured! (if you want it).
The program, launched with co-leaders at the time ACE and The Arthritis Society of Canada, positively promotes interest and conversations about arthritis with the public and healthcare professionals.
ACE and ARC have defined new channels for arthritis communication, including launching ArthritisID and ArthritisID PRO – apps available at the iTunes store to help consumers and healthcare professionals become well-educated about, diagnose and manage arthritis.
